Privacy Policy — Latent Canvas
Last updated: 4 June 2026 · This policy applies to the Latent Canvas app only. For the Latentry app, see the Latentry privacy policy.
Summary
Latent Canvas generates images on your device, and your generated images stay on your device. To keep the service safe and lawful, you sign in with Apple and the text prompts you submit are recorded to our secure backend, linked to your account. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking.
What we collect
- Account identifier. You must sign in with Sign in with Apple to use the App. We receive a stable user identifier for your account. If you choose to share them at sign-in, we also receive your name and email address (Apple lets you hide your email via a private relay address).
- Your prompts. The text prompts you submit are logged to our backend and associated with your account, including the time and whether our on-device filter blocked the prompt. This applies to every generation attempt, including blocked ones.
What we do NOT collect
- Your generated images. Images are created and stored on your device and are not uploaded to us.
- No advertising or tracking. No advertising identifier (IDFA), no ad SDKs, no third-party analytics or cross-app/website tracking.
Why we collect prompts (and our legal basis)
We record prompts to:
- detect, prevent, and respond to illegal content and misuse;
- enforce our End User License Agreement;
- identify and block users who abuse the service.
This is necessary for our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and lawful and to comply with our legal obligations. Submitting prohibited content is grounds for restriction or banning of your account and, where required by law, reporting to the appropriate authorities.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (a Google Cloud service) to operate our backend:
- Firebase Authentication — manages your sign-in and account identifier.
- Cloud Firestore — stores the prompt records described above.
Google processes this data on our behalf as our service provider. Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (United States). See Google's privacy documentation for how Google handles data processed through Firebase.
On-device processing
- AI image generation runs locally on your device. Generated images are not sent to us or any third party.
- Your prompt history shown in the App and your settings are stored on your device and are removed when you delete the App. (This is separate from the prompt records on our backend.)
Data retention
We retain prompt records for as long as needed for safety review, abuse prevention, and legal compliance, after which they are deleted or anonymized. You can request deletion of your account and associated prompt records (see Your choices).
Your choices
- Sign out at any time in Settings.
- Delete your account and data. You may request deletion of your account and the prompt records associated with it by contacting us at support@latentry.app; in-app account deletion is also provided. Deleting the App removes on-device data but does not by itself delete backend prompt records — use account deletion for that.
- Depending on your location (for example the UK/EEA or California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Model download
The AI model (~3.4 GB) is downloaded once from Apple's servers (Apple-Hosted Background Assets / App Store infrastructure). This download is handled by Apple and carries no information about you; see Apple's privacy policy for App Store and asset delivery.
Photos access
If you choose to save a generated image, the App requests permission to add photos to your photo library. The App only adds images you explicitly save; it does not read or browse your library.
Children
The App is not directed to children, requires sign-in, and enforces content restrictions and an age rating. See the End User License Agreement for prohibited uses.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
